Geography
Geography is concerned with the study of places, the processes which helped shape them and the people who live in them. Through the study of Geography pupils' horizons are widened bringing a greater understanding of the environment and community, local, national and global. With this knowledge the children can then promote a better understanding of the World around them. The study of the subject will embrace the school’s vision of a caring school, identifying unity and recognising the need for responsibility and right action.
As teachers we aim to enable each child to become self-motivated, effective and successful in their study of Geography. Pupils will undertake map work, take part in field studies, handle and interpret data as well as go on outings of Geographical interest. The skills of writing, listening, observation and collection of information are practised and promoted in this subject, these are skills that are essential across the wider curriculum.
