As the elected voice of the student body, the student council is given the responsibility of trying to improve the school as best it can. Two representatives are elected by secret ballot from each class and these 26 representatives become the members of the student council. From this group of students a further two are elected Chairman and Vice-Chairman.

As this year's Chairman I hope to build on the great foundations laid by the past two Student councils. The constitution of the student council has already been updated this term to include such things as the newly created Charity Committee.

There have been a few victories for the council where suggestions that have been proposed by pupils have been followed up on. These include sports equipment for the new Astroturf lawn, a new water fountain on the ground floor, a water cooler for the Sixth Form and the possibility of integrating a new afternoon break into the school's timetable.

Although we are only in our first term, we have already made the Student Council much more accessible to the rest of the school and achieved so much that I have high hopes for the rest of the year.
