The year 2025 marks 50 years since our founding—a milestone we are excited to celebrate with the entire St James community, past and present, near and far, throughout the year.
Since 1975, St James has grown into a vibrant and dynamic community, a place where lifelong friendships have formed, dreams have been realised, and stillness has been cultivated. Together, we have shared and cherished moments that have shaped St James into a true hub of philosophical learning.
However, as we honour this legacy, we also acknowledge its complexity. The early years of St James were marked by significant hardships that deeply affected many former students. Their experiences are an important part of our history, and this anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect with honesty, learn from the past, and continue to grow as a community rooted in care, wisdom, and integrity.
“My fondest memory of St James has to be the last few days of sixth form, after finishing A Levels. It was a whirlwind rush of rehearsals, going to Wimbledon with Miss Holliss and other students from the school, an emotional leavers’ dinner, the summer concert, speech day and finally assembly.” Aishy
“Through pausing and meditation, St James equipped me with the skills to find stillness amidst chaos. But most of all, it provided me with a band of sisters who are my strength and rock to this day. My St James friends are my closest and dearest, even 14 years later!” Farah
“I joined St James in Year 9, coming from another school, and my two Sixth Form years have been my best school years ever.”- May
“It´s difficult to put into words the enormity of the gratitude I feel towards St James for having equipped me with the emotional tools to navigate life with self-awareness, integrity and compassion. To all of my teachers, thank you for your constant encouragement, mentoring and guidance. St James holds a very special place in my heart and always will.” – Maria
Whether treasured memories from a trip, a performance or a message of thanks to a specific teacher, we want to hear from you.
