Dear Parents

What a busy Enrichment Week we have had! The children in Year 4 went on a fascinating tour of Roman London, Year 3 went to The British Museum to support their River Nile Project, and Year 6 visited the Imperial War Museum.  Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 went to the Senior Boys’ School in Ashford to use their extensive sporting facilities, and the week culminated in an exciting House Activity Morning on Friday.  Years 1, 2 and 3 took part in extended Music, Drama and Games lessons with the children in their Houses. Thank you to the teachers for enriching the curriculum this week.

The 20 minute PTIs have gone well and the school reports have been enhanced by the inclusion of the parent comments. Thank you for your support with this.

On Thursday, I met with a group of class reps to talk about how we can further strengthen our home-school partnership. The introduction of the Class Dojos has been well received as parents can now contact teachers directly to ask any questions about homework or day-to-day class issues. This will also enable teachers to give you any last minute updates where needed. If you have not yet signed up, please do so over the weekend as you will also be able to receive notifications when your child has received a reward in school. Do note that the programme we are using is free – you should not pay for the 7 day trial.

As noted in the comms yesterday, Mrs. Scott-Phillips or I will be in the coffee shop on Thursdays should you have any issues that you would like to raise with us.

I do hope that you have a happy and peaceful weekend.

Best wishes

Mrs. Wyatt

The Pause

At St James, we feel it is important to introduce our pupils to stillness and allow them to discover how to be inwardly free and deeply at ease within themselves. A short period of 5-10 minutes at the beginning and middle of every day is allocated to quietude in which pupils may meditate, contemplate or simply be still – according to their own spiritual inclinations.
