Mrs. Wyatt’s Newsletter 29.11.2024

Dear Parents

The sleigh is all ready and the classrooms are being decorated for the Christmas Fair this weekend. I do hope that you are able to bring your friends and family on Sunday. The festivities start at 12.00pm with the raffle prizes being announced at 3.30pm. All will be over by 4pm.

For parents of children in the Upper School it will be possible to apply for a scholarship this year. We will be offering them to internal and external pupils who are moving into Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. The scholarship will remain for the duration of your child’s time at the Prep School, subject to annual review of their performance. Awards of up to 25% will be given to pupils who show exceptional talent in Sport, the Creative Arts or in their Academic subjects. If you would like to apply, please follow the link to the form that is on the website.

Most parents have now signed up to Class Dojo and it is good to hear how smoothly the transition has gone. If you have not done so, then please see your class newsletter for the link. Your class teachers’ weekly newsletter will be distributed via Dojo, as well as being available on the portal.

After the holidays we will be having a big focus on school uniform and making sure that everyone is wearing all of the correct items. Here is the link to the uniform list. Please note that  boys or girls can choose to wear either of the coats on the Stevenson’s list. We do have many items in our second-hand uniform shop and if you need a particular item then please do let  The Development Office  know and we will check our stocks. If you have purchased a second-hand item then please do relabel it with your child’s name.

Please see your class newsletters for dates for the rest of this term.

Please note that I will be away on inspection next week and Mrs. Scott-Phillips will be looking after everything.

I hope to see you at the fair on Sunday.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs. Wyatt

The Pause

At St James, we feel it is important to introduce our pupils to stillness and allow them to discover how to be inwardly free and deeply at ease within themselves. A short period of 5-10 minutes at the beginning and middle of every day is allocated to quietude in which pupils may meditate, contemplate or simply be still – according to their own spiritual inclinations.
