St James Shortlisted for School Trip of the Year in Independent Schools of the Year 2025 Awards.

We are proud to share that St James Senior Boys’ School has been shortlisted for “School Trip of the Year” in the prestigious Independent Schools of the Year 2025 Awards.

This recognition highlights what lies at the heart of a St James education: learning that goes far beyond the classroom. Our trips programme is designed not only to enrich academic learning but to shape the kind of young men we seek to nurture; resilient, reflective, grounded in wisdom, and ready to contribute with purpose.

Whether it’s our Year 7 outward-bound experience, the Year 8 journey through classical Greece, or the Year 10 immersion in Renaissance Florence, each trip reflects the values that underpin St James – curiosity, self-discovery and philosophical inquiry.

Our Year 9 Camino de Santiago pilgrimage stands as a defining moment in a St James boy’s journey. Every student in the year group walks 120km over six days along the path of our namesake. It is a shared rite of passage that fosters deep bonds and a lasting connection to the school’s heritage, values and crest.

From scaling Alpine summits on our Mountaineering Expedition, to making history with our CCF team’s completion of the Nijmegen Marches as the first school-based cadet unit to do so, our trips consistently stretch pupils mentally, physically and spiritually. Each one is ambitious in scope, values-led in design and deeply personal in impact.

To be shortlisted among hundreds of national entries is a powerful endorsement of the experiences we offer and a celebration of the staff, students and ethos that make these journeys possible.

The results will be announced this October following the publication of the shortlist of finalists in September.
