Where parents are committed to sending their son to St James Senior Boys’ School, they can apply to pre-test. This option can relieve the stress of changing schools and is popular with parents who like the security of knowing where their sons are going to go. Please be advised that pre-test students are not eligible to apply for a bursary.
Currently we offer pre-testing at two stages:
- Completing a 10+ exam and having an interview in Year 5 for entry in Year 7
- Completing a 11+ exam and having an interview in Year 6 for entry in Year 9
All candidates will sit three exams: Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning.
There are two opportunities in the year for candidates to sit a pre-test: January and May. Please register by completing the registration form and returning it at least 8 weeks before the chosen exam date.
Should an offer of a place be made, a deposit to secure that place will be sought and parents will be asked to sign our contract within one month of the offer being made. If the deposit and acceptance paperwork are not returned within the timeframe stipulated within the offer letter, the pupil will have to re-register and go through the normal admissions process.
