2023 is the 75th anniversary of the founding of the CCF in schools. Today there are CCF contingents in more than 500 secondary schools across the UK. They offer young people a host of challenging, exciting, adventurous and educational activities. The CCF is renowned for helping young people develop personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline, and also offering an outstanding selection of extra-curricular activities.
On Friday 28th April St James Senior Boys' School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) held a Taster Day for Year 8 pupils.
The Taster Day was arranged to give Year 8 pupils who may be considering joining the CCF an introduction to the types of activities that we offer. A full day of cadet training activities had been organised by CCF staff who were supported by cadets in Years 10 and 12 and these included; fieldcraft, camouflage and concealment, an introduction to cadet weapon systems and physical training. The pupils also enjoyed taking part in an archery session which was run by a member of CCF staff who is a qualified Archery GB instructor.
