2023 is the 75^th anniversary of the founding of the CCF in schools. Today there are CCF contingents in more than 500 secondary schools across the UK. They offer young people a host of challenging, exciting, adventurous and educational activities. The CCF is renowned for helping young people develop personal responsibility, leadership and self-discipline, and also offering an outstanding selection of extra-curricular activities. 

On Friday 28^th April St James Senior Boys' School Combined Cadet Force (CCF) held a Taster Day for Year 8 pupils.

The Taster Day was arranged to give Year 8 pupils who may be considering joining the CCF an introduction to the types of activities that we offer. A full day of cadet training activities had been organised by CCF staff who were supported by cadets in Years 10 and 12 and these included; fieldcraft, camouflage and concealment, an introduction to cadet weapon systems and physical training. The pupils also enjoyed taking part in an archery session which was run by a member of CCF staff who is a qualified Archery GB instructor.
