Head teachers across the country have been concerned about the GCSE examinations this year given the changes in difficulty and higher academic standards.

St James Senior Boys’ School is delighted to announce that our pupils have achieved yet another superb set of GCSE examination results and maintained our academic excellence. The headline figure of 93% of pupils achieving grades A* - C is a fantastic achievement. The school saw a significant number of pupils reaching the very highest grades, with 36% of pupils achieving A* - A grades. With new style examinations in English and Mathematics it is significant that 97% of the grades achieved were levels of 9-4 in the new grading system that will become universal to all subjects next year.

There were many significant individual results including:

Ben Hollingdale 10A* 1A

George Harris 5A* 4A

Thomas Ravenscroft 6A* 2A 1B

Leon Borek 3A* 6A 1B

Daniel Goodstein 8A* 3B

Oliver Green 4A* 3A 2B

Headmaster, Mr David Brazier, said, ‘I am extremely happy with the results this year. The reforms that were brought in under Michael Gove a few years ago have meant major changes to the curriculum and teachers have needed to make many adjustments. Our pupils have maintained their high standards in these new examinations and we feel very proud of their achievements.’
