Performing Arts Academy
St James Academy of Performing Arts
The St James Academy of Performing Arts was launched in September 2022. The Academy offers classes in Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre (Singing). It aims to provide first-class training and to foster enthusiasm for and enjoyment of the performing arts for pupils from 3 to 18 years.
Classes take place at Earsby Street from 3.30 – 6.00pm during the week and on Saturdays from 9.00am – 1pm. There will be the opportunity to take grade exams and to take part in performances. Pupils from other schools also may join classes on a Saturday.
Classes are offered in:
- Group LAMDA classes
- Group classes in Musical Theatre
The Academy is co-ordinated by Patricia Snowdon, an experienced dance teacher who has previously run her own school and a performing arts department. She is a Life Member of both the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and an adjudicator and Fellow of the British and International Federation of Festivals.
Patricia leads a team of well qualified teachers, and dance classes follow the ISTD syllabuses for Ballet, Modern and Tap and LAMDA for Drama. All classes are age and standard appropriate.
