Cricket is the major Summer sport at St James. It is played by all pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 and by selected pupils in Years 10 – 13.
Cricket provides a wonderful opportunity for the boys to put the schools ethos into a practical context. It requires extremely high levels of concentration and focus in order to effectively execute very technical skills in high pressure situations; a perfect chance to utilise the calm focus developed during meditation and quiet time.
Pupils are extensively schooled in the arts of bowling, batting and fielding using our top-class facilities to prepare the boys for the heated House tournament and a fixture list that sees 6 teams compete against local schools in a testing fixture programme.
