Hockey is a core sport for pupils in Year 10 upwards and is offered as an extra-curricular club to the lower age groups during the Autumn and Spring terms.

Hockey provides a challenging alternative to Rugby in the Upper School and Sixth Form and pupils are taught the more intricate skills of stick-work, ball control and Hockey specific tactics. This fast-paced game requires very high levels of fitness and co-ordination and pupils are pushed to develop into well rounded players capable of representing the school. Hockey is the fastest growing sport at St James and we currently field 5 teams. The fixture list is competitive yet inclusive with an inter-house tournament, friendly fixtures and the prestigious Surrey Cup.
