Rowing runs year round at St James. In the Autumn and Spring terms it is run as an extra-curricular club, taking place during sessions before school, during Friday Options and at the weekend. In the Summer term rowing becomes a core sport and takes place during lesson time for Years 9 and above.
The sessions are split between school based sessions, where the Rowers work on their fitness and complete important Ergo work, and river based sessions at Twickenham Rowing Club. The Rowing Club uses the water based sessions to hone their rowing and sculling skills and to learn how to read the river, preparing them for their busy regatta season. The Rowing Club competes at various local and regional regattas, building up to the National Schools Regatta at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham.
