St James Senior Girls’ School 2025 A Level Results

Students and staff at St James Senior Girls’ School are celebrating leavers’ achievements across a wide range of subjects reflecting both academic excellence and personal growth.

The school’s close-knit Sixth Form allows for bespoke support, helping pupils exceed expectations. More than one-third of results surpassed statistical targets, demonstrating the significant value added by a St James education.

An impressive 30% of students achieved at least one A* and 38% of grades were at A* or A, well above the national average. It is unsurprising that 93% of our leavers have secured places at their choice of leading university.

Head, Emma Bell, commenting on the results, said: We are so proud of our leavers, who were supported by our amazing staff team to find their own passions through their time at St James and have developed the courage, resilience and enthusiasm for learning to take their next steps with confidence. It is simply wonderful to see the variety of destinations and course choices demonstrating the beautiful diversity of our community. These outcomes support our ongoing journey towards becoming a first-choice destination at 11+ and 16+, where young women are encouraged to ‘speak the truth, live generously, and aim for the best’: our guiding motto in both academic and personal endeavours.”

St James’ distinctive educational philosophy encourages young people to really discover their true selves while building the confidence and resilience to forge their own paths. Whether pursuing Sanskrit at Oxford University, Natural Sciences at UCL or Liberal Arts at Scripps College in the US there is no doubt that St James alumnae are well prepared for the future.

“I joined St James in Year 3 and have had a wonderful experience here. I’m really going to miss it. Today, I’m thrilled to have secured my first-choice place at King’s College, where I’ll be studying Social Sciences. The St James community has meant so much to me. One thing that has really stood out is how I’ve learnt to be resilient and open to new experiences that come my way.”

I’m so excited to be studying English at Edinburgh, and I can definitely see myself going into publishing in the future. Thinking back on my time at St James, my teachers have made the biggest impact on me and of course my friends. Their support has been invaluable. One memory I’ll never forget is the leavers’ celebrations; the dinner, the prom, all of it combined was truly unforgettable.”

“I’m surprisingly calm today. I thought I’d be more anxious! I’m excited to be heading to Royal Holloway to study Law. The people I’ve met at St James have had the biggest impact on me. Friends have been incredibly supportive, and the sense of community here has allowed me to grow and make lasting friendships. I’ve developed a ‘keep going’ mentality; try, fail, learn, and try again, which I truly attribute to St James and its wonderful community.”

“Having been at St James for 14 years, I’ve learnt so much about myself. When I started my A Levels, I wasn’t sure about continuing my subjects, but I’ve grown to love and appreciate them. I’m thrilled to be going to Oxford to study Sanskrit, my favorite subject, and I can’t wait to explore university life and make new friends. The greatest impact during my time at St James has come from the teachers and, of course, my friends. Exams were challenging, but having such a supportive school community made all the difference.”

We congratulate all our Year 13 students on their results and thank their families, teachers, and peers for their encouragement throughout their St James journey!
