Celebrating GCSE Results Day 2025

St James Senior Girls’ School is proud to announce excellent GCSE results, which the school was delighted to celebrate with families and staff on this 2025 GCSE Results Day.

Pupils receiving GCSE results this year began their senior school education in the shadow of Covid, with school closures and lockdowns. Their successes are testament to their hard work and resilience underpinned by the fantastic support network around them; their families, expert teachers and pastoral support at St James.

Encouraged to aim for their very best and to follow their personal passions, pupils have gone above and beyond resulting in 45% of pupils achieving at least one Grade 9 (A**) and over a third of grades at 8 or 9 (A*-A**). With 55% of results graded 9-7 (A**-A), pupils are well placed to progress to the next stage of their education and their chosen A Levels.

Head, Emma Bell, commenting on the results, said: “I could not be prouder of our St James pupils. It is wonderful that they have achieved more than double the percentage of grades at 9-7 (A**-A) than girls achieved nationally. However, it is always the individual successes, often not evident from statistics, that bring the most joy. I am so happy for our Year 11s. The breadth of subjects in which our pupils have excelled truly highlights the diversity of our community.

We look forward to welcoming many pupils back in September for another wonderful two years where they will have the opportunity to study everything from Biology and Music to Economics, Psychology and so much more, within our unique school!”

On her results and the exam process, Amirah D, who got an A*, one 8 and seven 9s said: “My GCSE experience was a lot less scary than I thought it would be. It felt like not only my teachers and friends, but the whole entire community were supporting me. I have been here since Reception and it’s been an amazing experience. I’ve just enjoyed every bit of it; all the clubs, all the lessons, all the people surrounding me. So thank you, St James.”

Kaira R, who will be studying Maths, Economics, Hinduism and Religious Studies for A Levels next year, said: “I just got my GCSE results and I’m super happy! I got all 8s and 9s. The school was really helpful, and they took us through the exam process really well. I’m staying at St James next year and I’m super excited.”
