A New Girl’s Perspective
I walked in on my first day at St James and was completely overwhelmed by the warmth and friendliness that I was greeted with. Everyone, students and teachers alike, introduced themselves, going out of their way to ensure I felt comfortable and at home. As the school is a relatively small community and many of the girls have been here since Year 7, I thought it would be hard to integrate and make friends. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much the other girls included me and within a couple of weeks I felt like I had been here forever!
St James has a huge emphasis on community within and around the school. Sixth Formers are very involved in helping during school events and with the lower years, which really helps us stay integrated into the main school so we can get to know all pupils.
Mrs Saunders and the teaching team in the Sixth Form are very supportive and always available to talk things through on specific subject topics as well as give more general career advice if needed. I cannot believe how quickly my first year is going but I am so glad I chose St James for my Sixth Form!
