February 5, 2024

CCF Range Day

On January 27th, 2024, 15 senior cadets from St. James Senior Boys’ School CCF, accompanied by CCF staff, embarked on a journey from the school to Longmoor Camp in Hampshire for Live Firing and Marksmanship Training. Upon reaching the camp, the cadets engaged in two training sessions, where they took turns firing under the guidance of CCF staff. Each session included both practice firing and target firing, contributing to the overall assessment and final score. Notably, among the participants, five cadets achieved the qualification of Marksman, while an additional two earned the distinction of 1st Class Shots.

Congratulations to – C/Sergeant Moore, Sergeant Swain, Sergeant Bailey, Corporal De Lellis Brockwell, Corporal Grant, Corporal Jones and Corporal Hopley on their achievements.

The Pause

At St James, we feel it is important to introduce our pupils to stillness and allow them to discover how to be inwardly free and deeply at ease within themselves. A short period of 5-10 minutes at the beginning and middle of every day is allocated to quietude in which pupils may meditate, contemplate or simply be still – according to their own spiritual inclinations.
