Our school is set in 32 acres for sprawling grounds in Ashford, Surrey.
At St James, 44% of our pupils commute by train and 9% take a public bus, demonstrating that public transport is a popular and convenient option. On average, the majority of our pupils travel time is just 10-50 minutes, showing how well-connected we are to our surrounding areas. Beyond practicality, what stands out most is that our pupils value developing their independence and resilience. Our pupils enjoy their journeys, with many highlighting that they love the time spent with friends, making the school day an enriching experience from start to finish.
In addition to public transport, we also run six of our own private school buses operating in surrounding areas, providing safe and reliable transportation for students.

At St James, we feel it is important to introduce our pupils to stillness and allow them to discover how to be inwardly free and deeply at ease within themselves. A short period of 5-10 minutes at the beginning and middle of every day is allocated to quietude in which pupils may meditate, contemplate or simply be still – according to their own spiritual inclinations.
