Beginning of Year Service

St James Schools gathered at the Ashford site for a wonderful celebration of school life on September 19th. It is the only time in the academic year when all three schools are together.

Traditionally, the Senior Boys have travelled into west London for a church service but, in 2023, it was decided to hold the event in the Sports Hall at Ashford with the Senior Girls and Prep schools taking their turn to do the travelling.

The staff and pupils of the Senior Boys School proved to be excellent hosts as the senior girls and prep schools were able to enjoy the great facilities at Ashford.

The theme of the service, which was a pleasure to lead, was Making a difference in the world.
Emma Bell was welcomed as the new Head of the Senior Girls School by offering a reading; David Beezadhur represented David Brazier this year as Acting Head of the Senior Boys and spoke of his delight at welcoming everyone to Ashford, and Prep School Headmistress Hilary Wyatt introduced this year’s theme.

There were other readings by students and prayers led by members of staff. The Prep School children sang, and Honor C from the Senior Girls school delivered an assured performance of a Mozart fantasia.
As the senior girls headed back to west London to resume their studies, the Prep school enjoyed a day of activities at the Ashford school.

Everyone seems to have enjoyed the event and singing was excellent! All indeed were happy, and the day was a great blessing in every respect.
