Reflecting on our Charity Achievements

When I was appointed charity prefect my vision was simple: To increase the amount raised for charity, and to date this year has been amazing.

We have managed to organize so many events. From a mammoth Three Peaks Challenge to a simple cake sale, there was an event to suit everyone.

The highlight of our charity efforts was the Three Peaks Challenge which I was lucky enough to take part in, which involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in 24 hours. We completed it in 26.5 hours, but that did not matter, what mattered was the money that we raised for charity.  Our cause was Harefield Hospital, who last year played a crucial role in saving the life of our Director of Sport, Mr. Wassell. This event raised an outstanding £7500.

In a change to tradition, we hosted our Marlborough House Dinner to raise money for Cancer Research UK, proving every gathering can make the difference. This alongside our mufti-day raised a total £1050.

Movember brought a focus on men’s mental health, inspired by Movember ambassador and hybrid athlete Fergus Crawley I decided to take part in the ‘Grow a Mo ’campaign. Alongside this we had the Top Tache competition (First prize once again going to Mr. La Frenais), a cake sale and a ping pong tournament.

The grand total of our collective fundraising efforts this term is a staggering £9050.  We are not stopping there though and have lots more planned for the spring term, watch this space to find out what.
